The Deep Run Winterguard is a competitive indoor performance ensemble that competes and is part of the Atlantic Indoor Association (AIA) North region. The Deep Run Winterguard is a performance ensemble and is not a graded activity at Deep Run High School.

When is Winterguard and what is the time commitment?

Winterguard begins shortly after the conclusion of the Marching Band season in November and concludes at the AIA North Championships in late March / early April.

• Rehearsals are three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday, typically 6:30p — 9:00p)

• There is typically one weekend in December for Winterguard bootcamp

• There are, on average, 2 weekends each month in January through March where the Deep Run Winterguard will compete in regional competitions

• Winterguard is open to rising 7th and 8th graders and all Deep Run High School students

Do I have to join both Color Guard and Winterguard?

No! The Deep Run Color Guard is part of the Deep Run Marching Band, and there are students who participate in both, and some that only do Winterguard. In fact, many students start in the Winterguard ensemble before joining the Color Guard / Marching Band.
